Writing

From scripts to essays, poems and stories. On this page you will find those. I haven't written a great deal, and I don't pretend to be a great writer, but I wanted to share these regardless as I enjoy writing.

In 2020 I graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Film & Visual Culture, the degree was heavily focused on writing, a lot of this work below is from university.

Fun Fact : I have written a journal nearly everyday since July 2004

Edited-362.jpg

A poem written before university, inspired by my favourite woodlands in Carmarthen, Wales. It's a little bit spooky, lovely and sad.

Owl Man
(2017)

This was the first script I wrote. I really enjoyed writing this. A short tale of a person that escapes society and lives in a tree.

Cake Black
(2019)

A script adapted and inspired by the story of the Sin-Eaters of Wales in the 1880s.

The Seige
(2019)

A dramatized script inspired by a true event.

Shining
(2019)

In this essay I will be discussing Stephen King’s novel, The Shining (1977) and Stanley Kubrick's adaptation, The Shining (1980).

Death Stranding
(2019)

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding (2019) in relation to narrative theory and discussing the extent to which the player is able to influence the outcome of the video game

Genre Conventions
(2019)

Looking at Genre conventions and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004) and Withnail & I (1987)

Sopranos
(2019)

From a presentation looking at Sopranos (1999 – 2007), as a series which fits into the gangster genre and looking at the theoretical debates that make it a post-modern production.

Gavin & Stacey
(2018)

In this essay I will be looking at the way Celtic stereotypes are portrayed in Gavin and Stacey (2007), if they are challenged or reinforced.

Irish Identity
(2018)

In this comparative analysis of the representation of cultural and nation identity, I will be looking at The Quiet Man (1952) and The Butcher Boy (1997.)
